Nairobi County Refurbishes And Equips Old Classrooms And Improves The Feeding Programme To Boost Class Performance And Attendance

To ensure safe, responsive, and nurturing environments for Early Childhood Development and Education learners, the County Government of Nairobi is refurbishing all the ECD centres and improving the feeding programme by providing each learner with two packets of milk a week and daily free hot lunch meals and break-time porridge to boost class attendance and improve the health of the learners. The refurbishment of old classrooms and construction of new ones, which was done during the COVID-19 lockdown, was aimed at providing learners with clean and improved facilities as they resumed studies after the long break. The County also purchased new furniture for all schools and constructed other necessary facilities like kitchens and toilets. With new classrooms, well equipped and designed to fit the Curriculum-Based Competency (CBC) system, the County has managed to accommodate learners with and without special needs.
