The County Government of Meru through the Meru Youth Service (MYS) policy has managed to enrol 3000 youths in colleges and TVET institutions. This project is aimed at alienating poverty and unemployment among the youth in the County. Through it, the County has empowered students with skills to seek job opportunities and start their own businesses hence becoming self-employed. Through a partnership with KCB foundation, the County has also managed to issue business kits to youths with business ideas. This has empowered youth from poor backgrounds and improved their living standards. Part of the recruited youth have also been trained as Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) to help in the health department in the County.
