The County Government of Kiambu is conducting environmental conservation sensitization among high school students. This sensitization programme is aimed at educating the younger generation on the importance of tree planting and the dangers of deforestation.
The County targets to grow over 300,000 indigenous tree seedlings. High school student members of environmental conservation clubs will grow trees in different parts. Kiambu County Government is also working with the Community Forest Associations to tackle issues regarding forests, breeding of seedlings and development of seedbeds. The strategy to involve young people in environmental conservation is aimed at encouraging them to be advocates of environmental conservation.
