Community Engagement is a strategy that has been adopted by Kisii County Health Sector to improve health care within the county. By using this approach, the county noted a gap in health-seeking behaviours in certain areas such as:
- Immunization Coverage
- Latrine Coverage
- Various Diseases e.g. Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria
- Nutrition.
The County employed the community engagement approach to deal with the gaps in Universal Health Care access. This involves the mobilization of the community which involves electing/selecting volunteers to sensitize them on the strategy and further training them on the basic health modules.
