Bomet County Improves Access To Education Through Full Secondary School Education Scholarships To Bright Needy Students

Bomet County Improves Access To Education

Primary school pupils in Bomet County have a reason to work hard to get the full County scholarships given to those who perform well in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

The programme was started in 2018 to help parents who cannot afford to give their children a high school education and motivate pupils to strive for better performance. The County Government of Bomet has budgeted KSh 30 million for full high school scholarships, which will benefit ten students from each of the 25 wards. The 250 beneficiaries are expected to have a minimum of 350 marks to get the scholarships. Both boarding and day secondary schools will benefit from the scholarships. With this initiative, the County aims to balance opportunities for students from all backgrounds by giving them a fair chance to have a quality secondary school education. This initiative has come as a relief to most parents who are still trying to recover from the COVID-19 financial setbacks.
