Small and Medium Enterprises nurtured under the Laikipia Innovation and Enterprise Programme have risen to the challenge of Covid-19 by stepping in to provide solutions to the crisis. As demand for Personal Protective Equipment for medical workers and civilians in the fight against COVID-19 has now outstripped supply the world over, the county government of Laikipia is capitalizing on the existing partnership with Dedan Kimathi University of Technology to mass produce masks, protective gowns and other protective gear critical in the management of the pandemic.

Other highlights in the County include the embracing of technology by businesses to ensure that trading continues in tough business environment occasioned by curfews and border closures. In addition, since water is a critical commodity in the fight against the Coronavirus disease, the suspension of water disconnection by the Nanyuki Water Company comes as a relief, ensuring uninterrupted water supply for Nanyuki residents.
