Makueni Innovation Challenge 2021 To Catalyse The Growth Of Startups Within The County And Beyond

While launching the Innovation Challenge officially on March 17, 2021 the Makueni County Governor, H.E. Prof Kivutha Kibwana noted the need in building an eco-system that targets emerging trends in technology that is critical in shaping a future that reflects how technology is changing our lives and those of future generations.
The Innovation Challenge offers an array of detailed startup profiles which describe the customer pain, the startups solution, revenue streams, team composition and commitment, market traction, short-term projections and milestones among other aspects for the competitors. This will be used by the competition judges who will mostly be investors to score the potential of the startup to become a sustainable high growth enterprise. The County Government of Makueni in collaboration with partners is running the Makueni Innovation challenge whose aim is to catalyze the growth of startups, to amplify and consolidate the gains of the region’s digital innovative ecosystem. The theme for this year’s challenge is “Economic Recovery amidst COVID-19”
Startups from across the region (Machakos, Kitui, Kajiado, Taita Taveta and Makueni Counties) that meet the requirement are encouraged to start applying for the challenge. Entries to the competition can be submitted

The Innovation Challenge is one of the initiatives by the County through the Makueni County Innovation Hub which was recently established to provide access to cutting edge applications, cost-effective data digitization for e-government services and automated tech innovations to the communities of all social inclusions. The Innovation Challenge is one of the initiatives to provide an opportunity to the residents of Makueni and around the region to showcase their innovative ideas for support by investors.
The deadline for submission of applications is on 15th April 2021. Applicants are encouraged to start building and curating their startup profiles early as they might need to research or source some of the information required widely. Applicants are also required to upload a short (max 5 mins) video of the founders expressing the mission and strength of their startups/innovations on
